Our next planned trip is to the Canadian province of British Columbia. We were last there in the Fall of 2004 when we spent a few days in Vancouver before attending the wedding of our friends' daughter in the Seattle area, part of a driving trip from California through Oregon and Washington to Canada and back again.
This time we'll fly to Vancouver, spend three nights in the Granville Island area of the city, then head north to Whistler (site of some of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games), before arcing north and east through the coastal mountains to Kamloops. One of the focal points of our trip will be the Okanagan wine-growing region where the Sonora Desert ends its northward migration from Mexico across the U.S. and into Canada.
After five nights there, we'll return for an overnight stay at Granville Island before catching a late afternoon flight back to San Francisco.
